6 Major Types of Vietnam Visa

When planning a trip to Vietnam, selecting the right visa is essential based on your purpose, duration, and other requirements. Below are the 6 major types of Vietnam visas to help guide you through the process of applying for the right one.

1. Vietnam Tourist Visa (DL)

The Vietnam Tourist Visa, marked as "DL," is the most common for travelers visiting for leisure. It typically allows you to stay for 15 to 30 days per entry, with the option to extend.

  • Visa on Arrival (VOA): Ideal for air travelers. You can apply online for a visa approval letter 3-5 days before your trip. Bring the letter, passport, and two passport-sized photos to get the visa stamped at the airport. Fees range from USD 25 to USD 50 depending on entries.
  • Visa at Embassy: Submit the application directly at a Vietnamese embassy or consulate.
  • E-Visa: Available for 80 nationalities, offering a single entry for up to 30 days. Apply via the National Portal on Immigration.

For business trips, the Business Visa (DN1 for working with legally recognized companies and DN2 for providing services) is available. Visa options range from single-entry 1-month to multiple-entry 1-year visas.
